Where can I play real Monopoly online?

I want to play the normal monopoly game online for free, but the only ones I find are weird. Like instead of using hundreds of dollars, like say 220, they use 2.20. And they feel right when I am playing them. I remember playing on one site that had it perfect but now I can't remember it.|||Heres and idea PLAY HALO!!!!|||ummm|||Hi Nick,

Unfortunately, for whatever reason, there does not appear to be *any* place to play classic Monopoly online, at least not without forking over a credit card number. Games.com used to have it with thousands of people playing, but then they went commercial and started charging for it, then people went elsewhere.

Atari.com used to have a free version of Monopoly online, but it has since been taken down.

Many people say that Pogo is a good resource for playing Monopoly online, but it's not the classic version, and every time I've gone there I was the only person in the lobby and got assigned a computer opponent. The applet also takes forever to load, and for some people doesn't load at all.

If you search on Google long enough, you may find one or two sites offering free classic Monopoly. But since they're so hard to find, odds are there won't be any other players around to start a good game with.

It is indeed really sad, and even a little pathetic, that one of the most popular board games in human history cannot be played online. It seems that the main reason for this is, ironically enough, greed. Whenever a Monopoly game goes online on a well-trafficked site, it becomes extremely popular, and it's only a matter of time until the owners of the site decide they can make an assload of money by charging people to play or selling the site to another company who will charge people to play.

I think what we'll need is for someone to design an open-source version of Monopoly (assuming there aren't any copyright issues that would prevent that) and release it to the public. Then anyone would be able to host a Monopoly game on their site, and it would only be a matter of time before some good ones pop-up, and with that level of competition it would probably take away the financial incentive to charge people for it.

Until then, I'm afraid your best bet is to either pay to play online, or dust off your old board game and find some friends to play with.
